a rich, 800-year-old family tradition of soulful Qawwali. This profound legacy has
been passed down through generations, becoming the 9th generation, learning the
sacred art of Qawwali from their paternal grandfathers, Ustad Tufail
Ahmed and Ustad Qurban Hussain renowned for their groundbreaking contributions
to Qawwali, including the iconic “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya”.
Not only deeply rooted in Qawwali, but the family’s expertise also extends into
classical music, a discipline they inherited from their maternal grandfather, Ustad
Latafat Hussain Khan, a legendary figure in classical music. Ustad Latafat Hussain
Khan taught some of the most famous names in South Asian music, including the
legendary Sabri Brothers Qawwal.

Ustad Imran Hussain is the heart and soul behind the Hussain Brothers Qawwali Group,
having co-founded it with his brother, Jamal Hussain and led the group to worldwide
recognition performing all over the world in countries like Norway, Dubai, Germany and the
USA. Notably, Imran have had the honour of working alongside legendary artists,
including Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, further elevating their stature within the Qawwali tradition.
A masterful vocalist and exceptionally talented Harmonium player, Ustad Imran has
devoted his life to preserving and performing the rich tradition of Qawwali. His passion for this
art has taken him across the globe, captivating audiences with his powerful performances.
As a devoted father, Ustad Imran has passed on this extraordinary musical legacy to his three
sons—Ashaz, Abdul Suboor, and Wali—nurturing their talents and guiding them as they now
lead the group. Through his mentorship and dedication, Ustad Imran ensures that the Hussain Brothers’ legacy lives on in the next generation, carrying forward over 800 years of family
tradition.
Jamal Hussain, one of the founding members of the Hussain Brothers Qawwali Group, has
been an integral force behind the group’s success alongside Ustad Imran Ahmed. Together,
they have performed on stages around the world, bringing the spiritual essence of Qawwali to
global audiences. A deeply skilled and passionate qawwal, Jamal has been instrumental not
only in the group’s performances but also in mentoring Imran’s sons helping to instil in them
the values and techniques of the family’s 800-year-old musical tradition.
Jamal’s contributions both as a performer and a teacher have been invaluable to the
continued growth and success of the Hussain Brothers Qawwali Group, ensuring that the
group’s legacy thrives with the next generation.
Ashaz Hussain has emerged as a distinctive voice in the world of Qawwali, combining a deep
connection to his family’s rich musical tradition with a fresh, innovative approach. From a
young age, he has been immersed in the spiritual and melodic art of Qawwali, learning the
centuries-old traditions passed down through generations. As the next lead of the Hussain
Brothers Qawwali Group, Ashaz is carrying forward the family legacy while infusing it with
his own modern influences.
What sets Ashaz apart is his ability to honor his forefathers' legacy while also introducing new
styles that resonate with contemporary audiences. This fusion of the old and new, combined
with his youthful energy and deep respect for tradition, makes Ashaz a captivating and

Abdul Suboor Hussain, a 21-year-old tabla player, is an integral part of the Hussain
Brothers Qawwali Group. Known for his incredible skill and rhythmic precision, Abdul Suboor
has learned under the guidance of Ustad Agha Sherazi and has recently been privileged to
learn from the legendary Ustad Dildar Hussain, the world-renowned tabla player who
performed with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
In addition to the tabla, Abdul Suboor occasionally
takes on the role of lead, bringing his unique energy and expertise to the forefront of
performances.
Wali Hussain Khan, the youngest member of the Hussain Brothers Qawwali Group at
just 14 years old, is already making waves as an exceptionally talented musician. As one of
the main vocalists of the group, along with a professional command of the Tabla, Wali is a dedicated shagird (student) of the legendary Ustad Dildar Hussain, who played alongside
the iconic Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Wali’s skillset extends beyond the tabla—he has also
gained impressive mastery of the baja, showcasing his versatility.
Wali has been performing on stage with his family since the age of 2, growing up surrounded
by music and tradition. His extraordinary talent and dedication have earned him recognition
from the BBC, a testament to his remarkable achievements at such a young age. With his
promising future, we are excited to witness his growth and continued success in the years to
come.
